My oldest son got a Dart Vader costume – which he would not take off. At dinner time he almost forgot the mask. After a while he got hungry enough – and lifted the mask.

lens recomendations for close-ups
I love all the awesome pictures in the forums. Keep up the good work. Once I get a new lens (and after she’s born of course), I’ll post my results.
Thanks for any input.

Another tripod thread
I’m looking for a good tripod, price range around $100-$150. I’ve got Canon 40D, lenses = 10-20mm, 17-85mm, and will be borrowing my sis’s telephoto which is heavy but I can’t remember exactly which one it was (75-300mm maybe?) I was looking at Slik legs, but have no idea on the ball head, I know I want a quick release though.
I’m wanting to start taking longer exposures… So sturdy is important. But I do go hiking a lot so weight might be an issue. Although, is it really that difficult to take a heavier tripod? I mean, when I go with my gear now, I don’t even notice it on my back because I’m usually having to much fun. :p And I usually hike in the desert so I have backpack, camera gear, water, flashlights, sweatshirt, other little odds and ends… and I honestly don’t mind that weight.
Also, I’m going to Alaska in a couple months (May)… which is why I’m looking now! So I’m unsure of winds or really what to expect.
Any suggestions?
These were the two legs I was looking at:
